πŸ€“ What Is Available Today

Texas Original

Texas Original vaporization devices launched June 3, 2026 and are available at all Texas Original pickup locations and through their delivery service. Each device features:

  • Metered dosing technology delivering 3 to 5 mg THC per draw
  • Purified cannabis extract and botanically derived terpenes
  • Indica, sativa, and hybrid strain options
  • Vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, and made without artificial dyes or flavors

The device automatically delivers a measured dose. After three seconds of inhalation, the heating element shuts off and the device blinks red to indicate the dose has been completed.

Fluent

Fluent also launched medical cannabis vaporization devices today through their MOODS line. Their initial offering includes 0.5 gram cartridges in multiple strain options. Fluent’s launch includes their Caramel Cream variety, described as a slightly indica-leaning hybrid suited to evening and pain management use.

Texas Goodblend

Texas Goodblend is expected to launch their vaporization products in the near future. We will update this post when their products become available.

‼️ There Is One Important Step Before You Can Purchase

This is the most important thing to read before you drive to a dispensary.

Pulmonary inhalation products require separate authorization in CURT, even if your existing prescription allows for other or any means of administration. Your prescription must specifically include "Medical necessity for pulmonary inhalation" marked as Yes.

For your physician to authorize this, they will need to select "Yes" under the medical necessity for pulmonary inhalation field in CURT, which may require writing a new prescription.

If your current TCUP prescription was written before today, it almost certainly does not include pulmonary inhalation as an authorized method of administration. That is because inhalation was not previously available in the program.

If you are a Floweret MD patient: Contact us directly and we will update your CURT prescription to include vaporization authorization. You do not need a full new evaluation for this change. Simply reach out through our patient contact form or by phone and we will process the authorization for you.

If you are not yet a TCUP patient, get started with a Floweret MD evaluation to determine whether you qualify.

πŸ€” How the Texas Original Device Works

The Texas Original vaporization device is a two-part system consisting of a metered-dose battery and a vaporization oil cartridge. Here is how to set it up and use it.

Assembling the device:

  1. Remove the cartridge from the packaging and take off the rubber protective cap from the bottom
  2. Align the cartridge with the connector on the battery and rotate clockwise to attach. Continue twisting until secure. Do not over-tighten.

Using the device:

  1. Press the power button five times rapidly to turn it on
  2. Inhale slowly through the mouthpiece to activate. After three seconds the device will blink red and the heating element will shut off, indicating one metered dose has been delivered
  3. Press the power button five times rapidly again to turn it off after use
  4. Store the device upright, mouthpiece up, in a cool dark place away from children and pets

Charging the device:

Remove the cartridge before charging. Use a USB-C cable to charge. A full charge takes approximately 60 minutes. A USB-C cable is not included with the battery.

Opening the child-safe packaging:

Press the interior flap against the wall of the sliding tray where it says "push here" to release the tray, then pull it out by the tab.

For Fluent's MOODS cartridges, the operating instructions are similar in principle, with each cartridge designed to attach to a compatible battery. Patients picking up at Fluent locations should ask staff for device-specific operating guidance.

πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ Floweret MD Dosing Instructions for Vaporization

Your prescribing physician's specific instructions always take priority. The following are Floweret MD's standard usage guidelines for inhaled cannabis.

Use only as needed for breakthrough symptoms.

Start with one small inhalation or draw, then wait approximately 10 minutes to see how you feel before taking another. Effects from inhaled cannabis can come on quickly, usually within a few minutes.

If symptoms are still present after 10 minutes and you are not feeling overly sedated, dizzy, anxious, or impaired, you may take one additional small draw.

Use the lowest amount that provides relief. Do not continue repeated dosing if you feel too sleepy, lightheaded, anxious, confused, or uncomfortable.

You may use the device every 3 hours as needed for breakthrough symptoms, unless otherwise directed by your physician.

Do not drive, operate machinery, make important decisions, or mix with alcohol or sedating medications after use. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

❓ Why This Matters for Patients

The addition of vaporization to TCUP is not just a new product format. It changes what is clinically possible for Texas patients managing conditions with acute or breakthrough symptoms.

Every delivery method previously available through TCUP, edibles, tinctures, topicals, and RSO, requires time before the patient feels any effect. Edibles take 45 to 120 minutes. Even sublingual tinctures take 15 to 30 minutes. For patients managing conditions where symptoms can escalate suddenly, including muscle spasms, seizure activity, breakthrough pain, acute nausea, or sudden anxiety spikes, that delay has been a real clinical limitation.

Medical vaporization offers the fastest relief of any medical product in TCUP, with a typical onset time of 1 to 5 minutes. The metered dosing technology on the Texas Original device, delivering 3 to 5 mg THC per draw, means patients get a consistent, measurable dose every time rather than the variable delivery of unregulated products.

This is particularly meaningful for patients with:

  • Multiple sclerosis or ALS, where sudden muscle spasms may need rapid intervention
  • Epilepsy, where anticipatory anxiety before seizure activity benefits from fast-acting relief
  • Cancer-related breakthrough pain or acute nausea during chemotherapy
  • PTSD, where acute anxiety spikes or hypervigilance episodes benefit from rapid symptom management
  • Chronic pain patients who experience breakthrough pain episodes between tincture or edible doses

πŸ“ A Note on Vaporization vs Smoking

Vaporization is not the same as smoking cannabis. This distinction matters both clinically and for patients concerned about lung health.

Medical cannabis vaporization works by heating cannabis extract without combustion, producing vapor that is inhaled and absorbed through the lungs. This method bypasses the digestive system, resulting in faster onset compared to oral cannabis products.

Combustion, which occurs with smoking, produces tar, carbon monoxide, and other byproducts of burning plant material. Vaporization eliminates the combustion step entirely. The extract is heated to a temperature that produces vapor without burning, which significantly reduces exposure to the byproducts associated with smoke inhalation.

For patients with respiratory conditions, this distinction is clinically relevant and worth discussing with your physician before starting vaporization.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my current TCUP prescription cover the vaporization device?

Most current TCUP prescriptions do not include pulmonary inhalation because it was not previously available in the program. You need your physician to update your CURT prescription to include vaporization as an authorized method of administration. Floweret MD patients can contact us directly for a quick prescription update.

How quickly does inhaled cannabis work?

Medical vaporization offers the fastest relief of any medical product in TCUP, with a typical onset time of 1 to 5 minutes.

How do I know which strain option to choose?

Both Texas Original and Fluent offer indica, sativa, and hybrid options. Generally, indica-dominant products are associated with more sedating, body-relaxing effects appropriate for nighttime or pain management. Sativa-dominant products tend toward more alerting effects appropriate for daytime use. Hybrid options offer a middle ground. Discuss your specific symptom timing and goals with your prescribing physician to help guide the selection.

Is a tincture the same as an edible?

No. Tinctures are held under the tongue for sublingual absorption, which enters the bloodstream much faster than swallowing. If you swallow a tincture immediately without holding it under your tongue, it essentially becomes an edible with delayed onset.

How many draws should I take?

Start with one small draw and wait 10 minutes before considering a second. The Texas Original device delivers 3 to 5 mg THC per draw, which is a meaningful dose for most patients. More is not always better, and the biphasic effect of THC means exceeding your therapeutic dose can increase rather than decrease anxiety and discomfort. Your physician's specific instructions take priority over general guidelines.

Can I use the vaporization device if I have a lung condition?

Speak with your prescribing physician before starting vaporization if you have a history of asthma, COPD, or other respiratory conditions. While vaporization eliminates the combustion byproducts of smoking, it still involves inhaling vapor into the lungs and may not be appropriate for all patients.

Which dispensary should I choose, Texas Original or Fluent?

Both dispensaries are licensed TCUP providers offering laboratory-tested, regulated products. Your choice may depend on geographic proximity to pickup locations, delivery availability, specific strain preferences, or product pricing. Both offer high-quality medical cannabis vaporization options. Texas Goodblend will offer a third option once their vaporization products launch.

How should I store the device?

Store the device upright, mouthpiece up, in a cool dark location away from heat, light, children, and pets. Remove the cartridge before charging.

🎬 Conclusion

June 3, 2026 marks a genuinely significant day for Texas medical cannabis patients. The arrival of regulated, laboratory-tested, metered-dose vaporization devices through TCUP fills a real clinical gap that has existed in the program since its inception. Fast-acting relief for breakthrough symptoms is now available through a legal, physician-guided, dispensary-distributed product for the first time in Texas history. With both Texas Original and Fluent launching today, and Texas Goodblend expected to follow, Texas patients now have multiple regulated vaporization options to choose from.
